Curator's Tour. Paths into Abstraction at Barberini
Thu, Mar 20, 5:30 p.m.
Sold outWhile the Kupferstichkabinett in Berlin currently presents over 100 works by the Blue Rider group founded in 1911 in its exhibition The Cosmos of "Der Blaue Reiter". From Kandinsky to Campendonk, the Museum Barberini dedicates its current exhibition Kandinsky's Universe. Geometric Abstraction in the 20th Century to Kandinsky's later abstraction.
From 1922, he developed a more precise, geometric formal language at the Bauhaus. His theories on the interaction of colors and forms influenced international networks of artists beyond his lifetime. On display in Potsdam are 125 works from the 1910s to the 1970s.
On the occasion of the two parallel exhibitions, Andreas Schalhorn, Curator of Art of the 20th Century at Berlin's Kupferstichkabinett, and Ortrud Westheider, Director of the Museum Barberini, will guide visitors through Kandinsky's Universe on March 20 and The Cosmos of "Der Blaue Reiter" on April 10. The visit to both exhibitions invites visitors to get to know Kandinsky's various forms of abstraction as well as his artistic environment in Munich, Moscow, Paris and at the Bauhaus.
