In conversation: The Development of Impressionism
The Museum Barberini features a permanent exhibition of museum founder Hasso Plattner’s extensive collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings: 114 works by 23 artists including Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Berthe Morisot, Gustave Caillebotte, and Paul Signac.
Daniel Zamani, former curator of the Museum Barberini, uses three paintings from the collection to illustrate the history of French Impressionism—from its beginnings in the nineteenth century to its further development by the Pointillists and Fauvists in the early twentieth century.
