Gary Schwartz, art historian in Maarssen near Utrecht; publisher of art historical books, 1971-1991; founder and long-time director of the International Council of Curators of Dutch and Flemish Art (CODART); curator of several exhibitions, including Emotions: Pain and Pleasure in Dutch Painting of the Golden Age (Haarlem, 2014), currently preparing the exhibition Rembrandt and Judaism (Moscow, 2022); author of numerous publications on Rembrandt and other Dutch artists, including Rembrandt: His Life, His Paintings (1987) and The Rembrandt Book (2006).
